Celebrating 249 Years of Service and Strength

On June 14, 1775, the Continental Congress established the United States Army — a full year before the Declaration of Independence was signed. What began as a ragtag group of citizen-soldiers has grown into the most powerful and respected land force in the world.

From the Revolutionary War to modern-day conflicts, the U.S. Army has stood watch, answered the call, and fought with honor on every front.

For 249 years, Soldiers have defended freedom at home and abroad — with courage, discipline, and sacrifice. They’ve marched through mud, stormed beaches, patrolled deserts, and stood strong through every chapter of our nation’s story.

Today, we celebrate the Army’s birthday not just as a military milestone, but as a tribute to every Soldier — past and present — who’s worn the uniform and lived the Army values: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.

Happy Birthday, U.S. Army.

Here’s to the Soldiers who keep the watch — then, now, and always.
